OVERVIEW
The Robert R. Jones Public Library offers eBooks and downloadable audiobooks through two vendors: eReadIllinois (eBooks and audiobooks) and Overdrive (eBooks, audiobooks, and digital videos).
Everyone with a valid library card is eligible to check out five books at a time. Keep the books for three weeks. After which, they will no longer open on your device. No fines! Place up to five holds at a time, and put the rest of the books you want to read on a wish list for later.
OVERDRIVE: GETTING STARTED
With OverDrive, you can borrow and enjoy free eBooks, audiobooks, and more from your library's digital collection. All you need to get started is an internet connection, a Robert R. Jones library card.
DEVICES
You can use just about any device to access the Overdrive library: Androids, Chromebooks, iPhones, iPad, and iPod touches, Kindle Fire HD, Macs, Windows, and Windows 8 & 10.
GET THE APP: OVERDRIVE
Have a new smartphone or tablet? Great! There's an app that will let you borrow digital eBooks, audiobooks, movies, and shows from your library: Overdrive.
CHECKING OUT
1. Find your library; Robert R. Jones Public Library District
Find and open your library digital collection using one of the following:

The new Libby app (recommended for public library users on Android, iOS, or Windows 10 devices)

The original OverDrive app (for users on Android, Chromebook, iOS, Kindle Fire, or Windows 8/10 devices)

OverDrive.com (for any user on a Windows or Mac computer)
2. Borrow
Borrow a title from your library or school's digital collection. You'll need a valid library card or student ID to complete this step.
3. Enjoy
You can enjoy many titles immediately online, download them for offline use, or send borrowed eBooks to a Kindle device for the duration of your lending period.
You can also transfer titles from your computer to compatible eReaders or MP3 players.
EREADILLINOIS: GETTING STARTED
You will need an email address, your library card number, and library PIN. If you are using a basic eReader, you will also need an Adobe ID. If you don’t already have an Adobe ID, you can get one by registering on Adobe.com.
DEVICES
You can use just about any device to access the eRead Illinois library: Android and Apple devices (iPhones, iPads), Nooks, Kindle Fires, and desktop or laptop computers. You CANNOT use a basic Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite. Other basic eReaders (Nooks, Sony Readers, Kobos) can be used.
GET THE APP: AXIS 360
E-book and Eaudiobook app, provides direct to device downloading for instant listening of audiobooks and reading of e-books on your Apple, Android, or Nook tablet device. The Axis 360 Desktop Reader can be downloaded to Windows computers and Surface Tablets.
Adobe Digital Editions: Lets you read downloaded ePub and PDF books directly on your computer or transfer them to your Nook or other eReader (Nook, Nook Color, Sony Reader, Kobo, etc).
CHECKING OUT
Axis 360 E-book format, can be used with the Axis 360 app on iOS and Android devices. Can also be used on the Axis 360 Desktop reader on Windows computers.
Audiobooks e-audiobook format, which is playable in the Axis360 app. The Axis360 app will offer a sleep timer that allows you to control how long you listen and will bookmark your place.
EPUB and PDF formats, which can be read using in Adobe Digital Editions or transferred to basic eReader devices. Font size can be changed in ePub e-books for ease of reading. NOTE: Once downloaded, all file formats can be accessed without being connected to the Internet.
Access the Axis360, either from your computer or via the Axis360 app on your device. Choose your preferred format from the ones available and then click “Check Out.” Enter your library card number and PIN.
On a computer, click the Download or Read Now link to open an ePub or PDF book in Adobe Digital Editions to transfer to a basic eReader. In the Axis 360 app, click Listen Now to begin your audiobook, or Read Now to open an e-book.
