About the event

Memory Oasis is a unique and innovative program offered by the Robert R. Jones Public Library, designed to support individuals living with memory loss and their caregivers. This program provides a welcoming and engaging environment where participants can stimulate their minds, share experiences, and build connections within the community.

Program Features:
  1. Art Therapy: Explore creativity through guided art sessions that promote relaxation and self-expression.
  2. Music Therapy: Participate in sing-alongs, instrument playing, and music appreciation sessions to evoke memories and improve mood.
  3. Memory Cafés: A casual, social gathering held regularly where participants and caregivers can enjoy refreshments, engage in conversation, and participate in fun activities such as games, puzzles, and storytelling.
  4. Reminiscence Activities: Use of sensory objects, photo albums, and memorabilia to spark memories and encourage conversation, fostering a sense of identity and connection to the past.
Program Goals:
  • Enhance Cognitive Stimulation: Provide activities that challenge the brain and promote mental agility.
  • Foster Social Interaction: Create opportunities for socialization to combat loneliness and isolation.
  • Support Caregivers: Offer resources and support to those caring for individuals with memory loss.

Who Can Participate:

Memory Oasis is open to individuals experiencing memory loss, including those with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, as well as their caregivers and family members. The program is designed to be inclusive and accommodating to all participants' needs.
